The event, hosted by the European Commission's Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO), marked the public launch of the platform and was an opportunity to raise awareness among key EU partners to its benefits.

The mountain of Medvednica successfully survives despite the pressures of urban environment with one million inhabitants in its immediate surroundings. Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia right underneath the mountain, enjoys the luxury of having a protected area on its doorstep – Medvednica Nature Park. Throughout history, there have been many reasons why people would come to the mountain. In the past, farmers of the nearby Zagorje region would carry the fruits of their labor to the fruit and vegetable market of Zagreb. Today, on the other hand, Medvednica is a place for leisure and rest, and a green source of strength for all those who visit the mountain, particularly city folk.

Solar panels for five families in Karlovac County

This is a joint project of the Ministry of Environmental and Nature Protection, the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Croatia. The project aims to provide electricity to households in rural areas that are far from the power grid. The pilot project started in the Karlovac County, and the plan is to continue it next year.

At the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit on 25 September 2015, more than 150 world leaders adopted the new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Zagreb Crowdfunding Convention, a two-day event dedicated to the group financing, held on 17 and 18 September attracted to the Trešnjevka Cultural Centre more than 200 participants who had the opportunity to learn how to run a successful crowdfunding campaign. The event was organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and social enterprise BRODOTO.
Kopački rit – flood of life

Kopački rit is the most valuable zoological reserve in Croatia. It is the largest nursery and spawning area for freshwater fish in the Danube region, and one of the largest alluvial wetlands of Europe. Over 2,300 species have found their home in the Nature Park, and approximately 140 bird species are nesting in it. This is an area where the mighty Danube decided to share its strength with the lakes, ponds, elevations and flooded areas. Nature Park Kopački Rit is located in Eastern Croatia, in the Baranja region belonging to the Osijek-Baranja County.
