UNDP Croatia and social enterprise Brodoto invite you on Zagreb Crowdfunding Convention

ZAGREB, 26 August 2015 – In Trešnjevka Cultural Centre, on 17-18 September 2015 will be held Zagreb Crowdfunding Convention, a unique event dedicated to crowdfunding, organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Croatia and social enterprise BRODOTO.

The Zagreb Crowdfunding Convention will be attended by some of the most prominent names in the crowdfunding at the moment. With vice-president of Indiegogo platform Liz Wald and Indiegogo director for Europe Anastasia Emmanuel, the convention will be attended by representatives of the two European crowdfunding platforms: Maria G. Perulero (Goteo.org) i Roberto Esposito (DeRev). Attendance has also been confirmed by Irene Tordera, European Crowdfunding Network, Saša Cvetojević, Croatian Business Angel Network, and Mihovil Barančić, Zagreb Entrepreneurship Incubator), IT and startup expert Ivo Špigel, Goran Jeras, Croatian Ethical bank, and many others.

During the convention, they will exchange knowledge and experience in the preparation and implementation of the crowdfunding campaigns, and further development of crowdfunding in Croatia. Also, examples of successful local and international crowdfunding campaigns will be presented.

Crowdfunding or group financing is an alternative way of financing projects that consist of many smaller donations collected through specialized Internet platforms such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo. It is estimated that in the past year through various crowdfunding platforms was raised over USD 16 billion, while the World Bank estimates say that by 2025 this amount will grow to over USD 100 billion. In Croatia, this type of financing is in its initial stage, but has great potential for development, as evidenced by the HRK 2 million raised last year, and 45 launched campaigns.

The Zagreb Crowdfunding Convention takes place as a final point of the Crowdfunding Academy held in the spring 2015. From more than hundred interesting projects applied, at the end only 13 teams were selected to attend the Crowdfunding Academy due to their outstanding quality, innovation and high level of motivation.
